December 5th 2010, A Hayride and events offered at The Police Point Interpretive Center. How could we miss this! It was bitter cold out ~ about -20C but so what, were Albertans! Let's Go! We arrive to see the Hayride in full swing. The beautiful Horse Team giving so much of themselves for all to enjoy.
The children are so excited to see the Horses pulling the wagon ~ so we didn't waste time looking for the place to put them on for the ride.
The day was beautiful and clear, definitely crisp and we were glad we brought hats, mitts and bundled up warmly to be here. The old trees down at Police Point have so much character.
The wagon's back and they're getting on as fast as they're getting off! The Horses patiently wait.
I'm not sure who's Horse Team it is but we are all greatful they were able to come down and be apart of the events and wonderful day!
So many people came down that we just let the kids get on for a ride while we held our hot chocolates to warm up our hands between taking pictures.
The Horses didn't mind everyone petting them.
The driver lets eveyone know the rules...no jumping around, stay put and enjoy the ride.
Such a beautiful Team.
Let's Go! After this time around the Horses were put away in their shelter. Great job guys and thank you so much for being a part of the fun!
The winter shadows are low, Sundown is getting nearer.
The hills looked so peaceful.
Under the cliffs and behind these bushes is the South Saskatchewan River. Frozen of course!
It was so cold out I only went for a short walk. I should have dressed warmer! Brrr
A friendly fire to warm us and the marshmellow roasting seemed to be an ongoing event!
Are they done yet?
Hot Chocolate, Popcorn, Mandarin Oranges, Marshmellows and more created many smiles.
One more for the road!
Sundown is near and the day getting colder, we decided it's time to head home for a large family pre- Christmas dinner.
Thank you very much to the people and volunteers of the Police Point Interpretive Center, the Great Team of Horses and Driver for the absolutley wonderful fun family day. We'll hope to see you next year!
Called the City With All Hell For A Basement by Rudyard Kipling. He had his reasons ~ probably referring to the Natural Gas fields of the area. Could also have reference to The Legend of Medicine Hat when over a hundred years ago a Native dweller lost his War Bonnet and declared the Longitude and Latitude as a place of Bad Medicine. Whatever the local Lore, it is my place of Birth, My Medicine Hat. A place where this rainbow chose to set down it's pot of gold!
